Restoration

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Knoxville had been coal heated.  A thick layer of soot had collected on and between the two and three layers of glass on their windows.  In July 2004, we removed the Good Shepherd window; completely dismantled it; cleaned each piece of glass; glued broken pieces with a UV glass epoxy; then rebuilt the windows.  We installed them back into their original frames using the original trim.  Next we will remove the protective glazing; scrape and paint the exterior of the frames; then install new protective glazing.  We will restore each window one at a time until all the windows are restored.  This is a full restoration.  Once restored, the windows will last another 75 to 100 years.
