Baptist Administration Building Baptist Hospital Exterior Baptist Hospital Interior

For the Baptist Hospital West Chapel in Knoxville, we were asked to create a symbolically religious window that would inspire those who are religious but not to offend those who are not.  The window was also to reflect the beautiful landscape of East Tennessee.  The focus of our scene is a large waterfall which symbolizes the living waters.  Flying over the waterfall is a dove which symbolizes Christ and peace.  Flowing out of the dove is a rainbow which symbolizes the calm that comes after a storm.  Directly above the dove is the star of the Nativity.  The red ribbon that drops down from the heavens symbolizes the Holy Spirit.  The pattern on the ribbon is taken from the chapel windows at Baptist Hospital downtown.  That shows that the new hospital is tied to the old.  There are 12 rays which symbolizes the twelve tribes of Israel.  The sunrise symbolizes the hope that a new day brings.  There are 66 stars in the sky that symbolize the 66 books of the Bible.  The iris symbolizes trinity and it is also the Tennessee state flower.  The daisy is the symbol for youth and innocence. For those who do not see the symbolism, the scenery is simply breathtakingly beautiful.  The overall size is 28 feet tall and 33 feet wide.  It is divided into 56 panels.  Every piece of glass has been hand painted and fired in a kiln.   Some pieces were sandblasted then painted.  Many pieces were silver stained (the bright yellow in the center of the daisies).
