First Presbyterian Church in Morristown, TN had true divided light wood sashes with various colors of antique glass
putty glazed into the sashes. Over time the church was having problems with the wood sashes rotting and leaking. The church
hired us to remove the existing wood sashes; remove their existing colored glass from the sashes; and use their glass to make
new leaded glass panels. We removed the wood sashes (photo 1). We then installed the new double channel aluminum frames
(photo 2 and 3). On the exterior we installed one inch insulated glass units. On the sunny side of the church we installed
one inch insulated glass made with Low-E glass which reduced the glare. Then we installed the new leaded glass windows (photo 4).We were able to purchase new glass that matched the color and texture of their glass. Just in case we had any accidents.
Changing from wood sashes to the aluminum frames has given the church maintenance free windows. The insulated glass on the exterior has helped reduce the distracting exterior noise from a nearby railroad crossing.
